Tokyo Day 7
Full album is here. Another day at work in Tokyo. Mostly just hanging out at work, and then wandering around Akihabara at night. And lots of tasty foods.

We got omrice for lunch. I’ve always wanted to try it, after hearing my friends rave about it for years. It’s basically rice and chicken, wrapped in an omelet, covered in a ketchup-based sauce. And DAMN is it freaking tasty.

Yeay my first omrice!

Crazy vacuum-and-boiling water powered coffee maker.

This might be the coolest table I’ve ever seen. You walk over the middle part to get through it.

Dinner in akihabara. I’m not sure what this style of meal is called but it’s genius.

They give you a hot plate with meat and rice on it, and you cook the meat on the plate, and then cover the rice with different sauces, spicy and savory, and mix it all together.

The crew is happy.

The end result, moments before it entered my belly.

A driving range on the 9th floor of Odobashi Camera. Freaking sweet.

The ultimate weapon? A train that transforms into a robot with another train inside it. What?

You can cut carrots into the shape of Winnie the Pooh for your lunch! Complete with eyes.

What the hell time is it? IT’S GUN O’CLOCK SUCKA!

A toy where you get the pleasure of popping soy beans out of their shell, over and over. See the guy’s tears of joy?

If that doesn’t do it for you, how about a game where you pop bubble wrap?

A really cool building in Akihabara, which is pretty much a gerbil tube for humans.

The number of middle aged men hunched over tiny child-sized pokemon games is truly surreal. Pictures in arcades are illegal, so I took this at great personal risk.

Okay, this is fucked up. These guys who play a video game called Idol Master, where you train young girls to dance in girl bands, also have notebooks at every arcade, where they can write daily notes about their gameplay.

They leave notes and draw pictures of their girls.

If anyone can translate any of this for me, I will be your best friend forever. What kind of stuff would you write in a daily journal about your fake girl band?

Oh snap !
Never heard of Omrice before , nor have i seen that type of cooking with the rice ontop of the meat -thing. But looks DAMN GOOD regardles :-]
I’d appreciate the names of the Omrice and “Rice ontop of meat” place if you can spare the time
Don’t you think it’s freaking annoying that taking pictures is illigal in Arcades ?
I mean I can understand flash is annoying, just make it so people dont use flash and i think
it wouldnt be that big of a disturbance.
PRO TIP for shooting pictures in arcades ?
Go when they just open up.
The Akiba ones are open from 9 AM and are practically deserted untill a few people who love to practice in peace come in round 10-11 ish.
Good place would be Club sega for the early morning “snap all you like” (just be wary of random staff patrols and your good)
re: omrice. What? Adrienne’s never made omrice for you before? Man, I make it a couple times a month for myself. Don’t even need the chicken – so good with a little leftover rice. Good stuff, man.
re: fancy coffee makers. I think AB talks about those in his Kitchen Tools book. Gives them high marks if I remember correctly.
A game where you pop bubble wrap forever?! I want!!! I’d drive myself nuts with it, but I’d never put it down!
Hah, maybe I should get one for you.
I love that table! And the bubble wrap and pea pods do both look pretty fun. Not like, tears of joy fun or anything, but still.
