Strom Thurmond is dead

Here are some things that I didn't know about the now dead Strom Thurmond:

Strom Thurmond started out as a racist Democrat, something that you don't really think of much these days, but apparently it was a lot more common back then.

He held the record for the longest filibuster in history, with 24 hours and 18 minutes, against a civil rights bill.

Known as a lady's man his whole life, in his farewell address to his fellow congressmen, he said "I love all of you -- and especially your wives."

Now that's just funny.
