SSN 411

This site has some interesting information about how social security numbers are assigned. I found the fact that we had a whole range of number only assigned to railroad workers, regardless of their locale, to be odd, along with the order that the middle two digits are assigned. I had heard that someone born in another country who was assigned an SSN upon becoming a citizen got a number starting with 999, but that apparently isn't true.
